Ocean 33, Red Bank 6

Red Bank fell to 0-4 in a divisional loss to Ocean as its difficult schedule continued on Friday night through dismal weather. After falling behind 26-0 in the first half, Red Bank rallied to hold Ocean to once touchdown over the final two quarters.

Senior quarterback Joe Persico connected on a 42-yard touchdown pass down the right sideline to junior wide receiver Andrew Cook for the Bucs’ only score of the game late in the fourth quarter. Red Bank has yet to score more than seven points in a game this season and has dropped five consecutive games dating back to last season.

Old Bridge 35, Middletown North 8

Middletown North lost its fourth straight game to open the 2013 season to Old Bridge. In all, the Lions — who are still in search of their first win under head coach Steve Bush, have dropped seven straight games dating back to last season. Middletown North’s last win came on Oct. 26, 2012 in a 13-7 win over Howell.

Old Bridge jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead before rolling to the win. The Lions have averaged 6.25 points per game in their four losses this season.
