11/14 – Monmouth Medical First in NJ to Offer Groundbreaking Breast Cancer Research Trial

LONG BRANCH – More than 15 clinical leaders and executives from Monmouth Medical Center, in collaboration with Baltimore-based Champions Oncology, will host a kick-off meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, for a research clinical trial aimed at developing personalized approaches to improve breast-cancer treatment.

Monmouth is the first site in New Jersey offering access to this groundbreaking research trial, which will use a leading-edge treatment model called TumorGraft. By removing a piece of a patient’s tumor and growing it in multiple mice, the trial seeks to better predict which drugs are most effective with which tumors.

Trial participants receive the TumorGraft testing for free, and potentially identify the most effective treatment for their cancer.

This model is a form of personalized medicine – initiatives that identify the most effective treatments for individual people. Eligible participants will be able to enroll in the trial through Monmouth Medical Center after this kick-off meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center, Monmouth Medical Center,
300 Second Ave.
