RED BANK — Police have charged a borough homeless man with breaking into and burglarizing a Shrewsbury Avenue location last month.

Kenneth S. Persico, 47, who police have listed as homeless on the complaint warrant submitted to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, was charged on Thursday, Dec. 5, with burglary and theft. According to the complaint, Persico allegedly entered the Shrewsbury Avenue building on Nov. 13 at approximately 2:58 p.m. Police said Persico took $2,000 worth of copper piping and water meters valued at $1,400.

Municipal Court Judge William Himmelman set Persico’s bail at $70,000 without the option to post a 10 percent bond.
