RED BANK – Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and from the borough police department are investigating the shooting of a man on the borough’s west side last evening.

Police Chief Darren McConnell said the male victim was sitting in a parked car on Willow Street when he was shot a number of times. The incident occurred at about 6:50 p.m.

The victim was taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and was listed in critical condition, McConnell said.

Authorities have not identified the victim nor released any additional information as of Wednesday.

The prosecutor’s office is the lead investigator, McConnell said.

The prosecutor’s office did not immediately return calls on Wednesday.
