ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS– Looking for a place to rest during the frenzy of shopping on Saturday, May 17, during the borough’s town-wide garage sale? The Atlantic Highlands First Aid and Safety Squad (AHFAS) has just the answer.
The squad is sponsoring a shopping pit stop where residents can rest their feet, get a free blood pressure check, get information about CPR and meet members of the all-volunteer emergency services and rescue organization.
There will be activities for younger residents who can explore the AHFAS’ ambulances and emergency vehicles. Also on hand will be members of the AHFAS cadets organization. The cadets will be selling a variety of household items as a fundraiser for the group.
The AHFAS will host the pit stop beginning at 9 a.m. at its 10 E. Highland Ave headquarters.
“Garage sale day can be quite busy in town and we wanted to provide a way to give our friends and neighbors a chance to get out of the sun during the day,” Chief Jerry Pandolfo said. “We look forward to saying hello and sharing information about our organization.”
Second Lt. Gwen Reynolds said the sale is a “great way to connect with the community.
“The cadets always look forward to garage sale day,” she added.
The AHFAS is an all-volunteer organization that provides around-the-clock EMS to the community and operates on donations from the community. The AHFAS Cadets Organization is open to those between the age of 14 and 18 who are interested in becoming involved in the EMS operation.
Additional information about the AHFAS is available by calling the non-emergency number at 732-291-8118.
