RED BANK — The borough council is expected during it’s meeting tonight to authorize free parking in the municipal metered lots for July 26-27 for the annual downtown sidewalk sale.

Red Bank RiverCenter, which oversees the borough’s business district, has submitted its request, as it traditionally does for the weekend event and the council traditionally approves it.

The suspension of paying for parking only involves the borough lots; on-street meters are not exempt.

Parking continues to be free on Sunday in metered spaces.

The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the borough hall’s council chambers/municipal courtroom, 90 Monmouth St.
