LITTLE SILVER – The Rumson man who is facing a simple assault charge in municipal court for allegedly hitting a Red Bank Regional High School baseball player, still faces that charge but the case has been moved to the Red Bank Municipal Court.

The case, slated for today in the Little Silver court, was adjourned and transferred to neighboring Red Bank and is scheduled to be heard on Aug. 15, according to Janice Swarggerty, court administrator.

Patrick Maisto, 49, who is the parent of a Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School baseball player, was charged with assaulting an 18-year-old player during an April game at RBR after the contest spiraled into a bench-clearing melee.

The charge was initially forwarded to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and on to a grand jury, with the grand jury in late June declining to indict.
