7/21 – Monmouth Medical’s Cancer Awareness Campaign to Host Free Outdoor Movie Tonight

Published on July 21, 2013 with No Comments

LONG BRANCH – Monmouth Medical Center’s Roll Out the Ribbons cancer awareness campaign is hosting a free family-friendly outdoor movie night at 8 p.m. tonight.

The event will be held on The Great Lawn, Beachfront North. Attendees can bring their own blankets or chairs.

This evening’s screening of The Sandlot, a sports-comedy film about a group of young baseball players during the summer of 1962, is sponsored by Party Flicks, an outdoor media and cinema company.

The movie showing is part of Monmouth Medical Center’s larger efforts to raise awareness of cancers of every type, and educate the community about preventive care and early detection. During the movie, attendees will have the opportunity to dedicate personalized, multicolored Ribbons of Honor to be tied to the “Promenade of Hope” along the Long Branch boardwalk. Optional donations will benefit programs and services for patients and family members of both the Leon Hess Cancer Center and The Valerie Fund Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

Since the July 4th public campaign launch at Oceanfest, more than 1,000 ribbons have been tied with messages of hope and healing to symbolize a united front in the fight against cancer.

Ribbons of Honor can also be submitted for free online at www.rollouttheribbons.com or by filling out a short form at more than 70 participating retail locations.

The Promenade of Hope will be filled with ribbons through Labor Day. The campaign will then move indoors for September and October to honor pediatric, prostate and breast cancer awareness months.

Additional Roll Out The Ribbons events will take place throughout the summer, including Thursdays by the Sea on July 25 and Aug. 1 and the July 26 Monmouth Park Joes vs. Jockeys Mini Golf Festival.
