ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – Borough police arrested Kathryn E. Ryan, 39, of Laurel Drive, Highlands, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and charged her with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, heroin; operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating drug; providing false information to a police officer; attempting to leave the scene of a motor vehicle crash; and attempting to hinder her arrest.

According to the criminal complaint, Ryan allegedly had and used heroin at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook park and then operated a motor vehicle. She is also Ryan alleged to have caused a crash with another vehicle and attempted to leave the scene, according to authorities.

Ryan’s bail was set at $5,000 without the option to post a 10 percent bond.

MIDDLETOWN – Township police arrested Michael T. Muller, 30, of Princeton Street, on Monday, Aug. 4, and charged him with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and simple assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Muller allegedly spit his own blood at officers, which constitutes aggravated assault, as officers attempted to arrest him following an altercation with another individual.

Muller allegedly assaulted the other fight participant by pulling his hair and biting the victim on the left forearm, causing swelling and bruising, according to the complaint.

As officers attempted to take Muller into custody, he allegedly flexed and refused to put his hands behind his back, police said.

Muller’s bail was set at $6,000 without the option to post a 10 percent bond.

MIDDLETOWN – Township police arrested a Newark man Aug. 1, and charged him with running down an off-duty police officer with a car, stealing a credit card and a gold and diamond engagement ring.

Police said Patrick Å. Brown, 39, allegedly struck Mark Saldutti, a Woodbridge police officer with a car, causing bodily injury to the officer, according to the criminal complaint.

Saldutti was off duty and in plain clothes but had identified himself as a police officer and attempted to apprehend Brown, the complaint said. Brown allegedly took a white gold and diamond woman’s engagement ring valued at $11,320 from one victim and a Citibank Visa credit card from another victim with the alleged intention of making fraudulent purchases, police said.

Brown’s bail was set at $100,000 without the option to post a 10 percent bond.

FREEHOLD – A Monmouth County grand jury indicted Rashaun A. Fentress, 32, of River Street, Red Bank, Wednesday, Aug. 6, and charged him with the theft of movable property, aggravated assault and eluding.

According to the four-count indictment, Fentress allegedly stole a motor vehicle on April 19 in Eatontown and attempted to elude police by fleeing the area in the vehicle. Fentress is alleged to have knowingly refused to respond to police orders to stop the vehicle, which resulted in a crash, injuring officers, according to the indictment.
