MIDDLETOWN– More than 35 volunteer firefighters from three township fire companies responded early Saturday to a fire threatening a Snyder Drive home but were able to quickly extinguishing the blaze.

According to John Isaksen, public information officer for the Middletown Fire Department, personnel and equipment from the East Keansburg, Port Monmouth and Old Village fire companies were dispatched after receiving the report at approximately 5:10 a.m. of smoke coming from 7 Snyder Drive. Firefighters arriving at the scene saw smoke coming from the attached garage of the 2 ½ story home, according to Isaksen.

The fire was under control by 5:30 a.m., with the last units leaving the scene by 6:15 a.m.

Also assisting at the scene were the Middletown First Aid Squad and the Middletown Fire Department Air Unit.

While the fire was contained to the garage, the residential portion of the structure sustain some minor smoke damage, Isaksen said.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The township Fire Prevention Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
