Revision Theatre presents Little Shop of Horrors

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, head south for a little ‘Horror’

by Julie Davis

If the week has gotten ahead of you and, suddenly, it’s Friday night (or Saturday or Sunday) and you have nothing going on, here’s an idea: head south on the GSP to exit 102—Asbury Park. Grab a delicious bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, like Stella Marina, Synaxis, Dauphin Grille or Langosta Lounge, and then take in the Revision Theatre’s wonderful adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors—the hilarious tongue-in-cheek tale of a nerdy florist whose chance for success is at the expense of a man-eating plant. The cast is perfection. Not only do you get lost in their performances, within minutes of the show’s start, you feel like you’re in the heart of the Manhattan theatre district rather than on the Ocean Avenue boardwalk. The theater itself charms, with intimate seating (every audience member has an up-close-and-personal view) and a clever set. Director Mary Catherine Burke has a true winner. Dinner and the theater prove a very worthy night to plant yourself in Asbury Park.
