Mr. C’s Beach Bistro, Allenhurst, will host a Girls Night Out on Oct. 20 to benefit Linkages, a non-profit organization that supports battered women and displace families. Admission is $25 for an evening of fun, food, shopping and wellness beginning at 6 p.m.

Salt Creek Grille, Rumson, recently named Chris Baron as the new assistant manager. Baron resides in Asbury Park has worked as a bartender at Salt Creek since 2002. He will continue bartending part-time in addition to his management duties.

Cupcake Magician, 54 Monmouth St., Red Bank, designated the Monmouth County SPCA as its “Sweet Charity” partner for October. The bakery will donate 25 percent of sales of its S’mores cupcakes to the organization.

Each month, Cupcake Magician selects a non-profit organization to receive 25 percent of the sales from one of its 35 varieties of cupcakes as part of its “Sweet Charity” in-store fundraising program. Chef, author and television host Lidia Bastianich will visit Dearborn Market, 2170 Route 35, Holmdel on Wednesday, Nov. 2 to sign copies of her latest book, ***ITALS Lidia’s Italy in America ***ENDTALS from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be raffles every 30 minutes and samplings of Lidia’s Nonna Foods pastas and sauces.

Gaetano’s Restaurant, 11 Wallace St., Red Bank, will offer fall cooking classes for children. The hands-on lessons introduce kids to cooking techniques and vocabulary, tools and the basics of etiquette, nutrition, safety and kitchen math. The next class is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 and features Orange and Black Fettuccini with pumpkin cream sauce with Spooky Eyeball cupcakes for dessert. On Nov, 19 the class will prepare Lasagna Roll Ups and Rice Krispie Treat Turkeys. Saturday The Dec. 10 class will cook Gnocchi with Pesto and Tomatoes and Snowman Cookie Snacks. Each class is $30. McLoone’s Boathouse Restaurant in the Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex will open to the public on Friday, October 21. The rustically designed restaurant offers a family-friendly atmosphere that complements the recreation attractions at Turtle Back Zoo, Treetop Adventure Course, miniGOLF Safari and Codey Arena.

“Our South Mountain Recreation Complex is a premiere destination that offers recreation opportunities for people of all ages, and the addition of McLoone’s Boathouse will enable even more people to enjoy our parks. The restaurant is an attraction itself because of its inviting atmosphere and the breathtaking views of South Mountain Reservation and the Orange Reservoir,” Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. said. “We are pleased to be partnering with McLoone’s Restaurants to present this unique dining and recreation experience to the public as well as creating jobs and contributing to the economic development of Essex County,” he added.

McLoone’s Boathouse Restaurant is located at 9 Cherry Lane at the corner of Northfield Avenue and Cherry Lane/Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange adjacent to the Essex County miniGOLF Safari. The 12,000-square foot building was designed according to a rustic boathouse concept that enables it to connect with the Orange Reservoir and blend with the natural setting of South Mountain Reservation and the environmental mission of Turtle Back Zoo.

McLoone’s Boathouse Restaurant is the latest addition to the McLoone’s Restaurant franchise. Tim McLoone is owner of the restaurant group that operates five restaurants in southern New Jersey and one restaurant in Maryland: McLoone’s Rum Runner in Sea Bright, McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch, McLoone’s Woodbridge Grille in Fords, McLoone’s Asbury Grill and Tim McLoone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park, and McLoone’s Pier House in National Harbor, Md. In keeping with the tradition of Tim McLoone’s other restaurants, the Boathouse menu will offer American cuisine that appeals to the entire family.
