LITTLE SILVER

The Little Silver Garden Club invites guests to attend its February meeting to learn all about herbs.

The meeting will begin at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Little Silver Women’s Club on Church Street.

Master Gardeners Ellen Simonetii and Robert Mellert will present an in-depth, hands-on seminar describing the nature of herbs, growing conditions, harvesting and preserving these precious plants.

In addition to featured speakers, the meeting will include floral design and horticulture competitions as well as refreshments and fellowship.

MONMOUTH BEACH

The Art Society of Monmouth County will be holding a lecture and demonstration at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center on Ocean Avenue.

Roberta Carter Clark, a nationally-renowned watercolor artist who also works in oils and pastels, will return to the art society to continue her lecture and hold a watercolor portrait demonstration.

The art society’s meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

 

TINTON FALLS

The Monmouth Reform Temple is holding a night of chance at its Night at the Races to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Colts Neck Inn, located at 6 County Road, Route 537 west.

A racing kit costs $40 which entitles the holder to a light dinner buffet, drink ticket for beer or wine, racing program, sheet of raffle tickets for a gift auction, door raffle number and faux money to place bets.

Racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and features videos of actual horse races that have previously been run in other parts of the country.

Prizes are valued at more than $4,000 and include a flat-screen TV and an iPad Air. The grand prize is a diamond tennis bracelet valued at $1,500.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the Monmouth Reform Temple.
