Extreme heat brings the chance of thunderstorms for the next week. A fast moving thunderstorm dropped some heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon. Flash flooding can be expected, Lexington Ave in Fair Haven just after the storm. Scott Longfield

Extreme heat brings the chance of thunderstorms for the next week. A fast moving thunderstorm dropped some heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon. Lexington Avenue, Fair Haven, was the site of some flash flooding after the storm. Scott Longfield

Popup thunderstorms are predicted for the next few days as an official heat wave is expected to be declared in New Jersey tomorrow.

The National Weather Service is predicting “hotter and more humid” weather for Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures into the 90s. Thunderstorms with locally heavy downpours are predicted through the weekend.
