CBA will travel to Delbarton this Saturday to avenge last season's playoff loss

Lincroft- Christian Brothers Academy will enter this hockey season with some questions in the net.

CBA finished with an 18-7-2 record last year and were eliminated from the state playoffs by Delbarton.

But the biggest loss from last year is the graduation of both of the team’s goaltenders in Kyle Shapiro and Nick Kamaris.

“I think if there is one position we are unsure of, it’s goaltending,” said head coach Ryan Bogan.

The Colts will rely on junior goalie Chris D’Alessio and freshman Connor Silverstein to be their anchors in net.

A fairly young team CBA will have only four seniors on the ice this season, joined by six juniors five sophomores and five freshman.

The success of the Colts will depend on the leadership and performances of returning players; senior forwards James Martello and Daniel Malafronte, junior defenseman Conor Clifton, and junior forward Glenn Florczak.

Bogan also has some underclassmen that are expected to make an impact in sophomore Brendan van Riemsdyk, sophomore Anthony Cusanelli, sophomore Kevin Darrar, and freshmen Conor Tierney and Joseph Masonius.

“We are looking to go deep into the playoffs this year,” Bogan said.  “We would also like to avenge our playoff losses to Delbarton who we play early in the season.”

CBA will face off against Delbarton this Saturday at Delbarton.
