MIDDLETOWN – Fresh off a Meet of Champions victory, Christian Brothers Academy’s Mike McClemens was named the Gatorade Boys Cross-Country New Jersey Runner of the Year.

McClemens, who will attend Columbia University next fall, won the Meet of Champions title in 15:25.84 as CBA won the team title. A week earlier, the senior won the Non-Public A state title in 15:55.61.

The award, which is handed out annually to a recipient in each state in the country, was introduced in 2007.

McClemens is the first runner from CBA to win it.
