ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – Thirst-e Productions, in association with the First Avenue Playhouse, 123 First Ave., is presenting John Patrick’s The Curious Savage through June 22.

The action begins when Mrs. Savage, played by community theater favorite Mary Johnson, inherits $10 million from her late husband. Mrs. Savage wishes to start a “happiness fund” to give the money to others. When her scheming stepchildren get wind of this, they have her committed. The story continues as Mrs. Savage meets the “guests” and a kind doctor and nurse at her new home.

The plot twists and turns with laughter and heartbreak as each of the characters must choose whether to follow the money or their hearts. In the end, the audience is left to contemplate where the line between sanity and insanity truly lies.

The cast of the comedy features many local favorites including Lori Anne Casciano, Lynne Cefalo, Rudy Palma, Eric McDonough, Fred Haward, Samantha Ambler, Debbie O’Brien, Philip Kozman and Laura Herr. The Curious Savage is directed by James Walsh of Leonardo.

Performances are 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, through June 22; 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16 for a special Father’s Day matinee.

First Avenue Playhouse is a dessert theater and BYOB wine and beer is permitted.
