FAIR HAVEN -  It’s the party that only happens once every hundred years! Residents of Fair Haven are celebrating ithe borough’s Centennial in 2012 and among the upcoming festivities is the Centennial Gala, taking place Saturday, March 10 at Raven and the Peach Restaurant on River Road.

“Well over one hundred neighbors, local business owners and community leaders who love Fair Haven have already made their reservations for the night of the Century,” according to Centennial Gala co-chair Christine Burke Eskwitt, “but we anticipate an even larger crowd because this is going to be a very special night that brings Fair Haven together to celebrate the Centennial. It’s a very special occasion for everyone who contributes to the life of this town.”

Fellow co-chairs Fair Haven Councilwoman Susan Sorensen, Marie Noglows,Nicole Rice, Erin Gotch and Cathy Alescio, along with an enthusiastic Gala committee, promise a fun and memorable night. “Our focus is Fair Haven,” says Sorensen. “We are very fortunate to have our own Bob Lucky at the piano during cocktails, and if you live in Fair Haven you know how well Bob plays the standards. Later in the evening, we’ll hit the dance floor to a local favorite, River Road Band.”

Both Mr. Lucky and River Road Band have donated their entertainment for the evening. A silent auction featuring art with a focus on Fair Haven and the surrounding area has been a special project for Sorensen, fellow co-chair Marie Noglows and several committee members. “We have had an enthusiastic response from very talented artists – both collectable professionals and accomplished amateurs -  who have generously donated work in several mediums. Guests will have an opportunity to take home a really special work of art as a keepsake of the Centennial and to celebrate Fair Haven.”

Co-chair Nicole Rice has worked closely with the Fair Haven Business Association to support the Gala, and has had a special focus on décor. Live auctioneer and new Fair Haven mayor Ben Lucarelli will run a fast but furious auction featuring a vacation home, a cocktail cruise on the Navesink, an afternoon fishing trip with catered lunch, 4 tickets to a Nets game with courtside club passes and a personal photo op with members of the Nets’ Dance Team or the Nets Mascot, and one or two more special surprises.

An extensive gift card Pot of Gold has been organized by co-chairs Erin Gotch and Cathy Alescio, and a 50/50 will round out the evening. Guests can also enjoy a VIP wine room as well as an extensive assortment of passed hors d’oeuvres, carving and pasta stations, and desserts at noted restaurant, Raven and The Peach, in Fair Haven.

The Centennial committee thanks the individual and corporate sponsors for the evening who include, to date, Boynton & Boynton (Jay Lynch), Fair Haven Yachtworks (Jim and Molly Cerruti), James R. Formisano, Dr. Steven and Shanda  McManus, Jacob and Carolyn Rue, and Peter C. Valko, and others.
