Monmouth Pain Center Offers PowerPlate Training
RED BANK – – Muscles weaken and deteriorate without regular exercise and use—a process known as atrophy. Astronauts in particular suffer from atrophy after spaceflight and require serious therapeutic exercise. Taking note of the exercise principles used by Russian cosmonauts, Dutch Olympic coach Guus van der Meer created the PowerPlate machine—an exercise machine that harnesses the power of ‘whole body’ vibration.
As leaders in the field of pain management and rehabilitation, Monmouth Pain is now offering a physical therapy program using the PowerPlate machine for those suffering from knee, back or other physical pain.
Using the PowerPlate machine, whole body vibration creates instability within the body, thereby forcing the muscles to perform responsive, reflexive actions multiple times each second. As part of the rehabilitation process, PowerPlate promotes healing by enhancing joint function, decreasing pain, and improving circulation (increasing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to injured areas and removing waste products such as lactic acid). Studies have shown that PowerPlate’s Accelerated Training™ technology boosts weight loss by up to 57 percent when compared to regular exercise and diet.
Monmouth Pain is comprised of a group of physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists working together to offer patients comprehensive, well-rounded and successful plans for pain management and rehabilitation. Contact their office at (732) 345-1377 or visit them at MonmouthPain.Com.
Recycle your Hearing Aids
ARE YOUR OLD, unused, hearing aids lying in a drawer somewhere? Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat can put those hearing aids to good use. Hear Now, a national nonprofit organization which provides hearing aids to the needy, has designated Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat as a local hearing aid drop-off center.
Hear Now is dedicated to making hearing instruments accessible to low income, permanent U.S. residents with hearing impairments, regardless of age, by providing hearing aids and cochlear implants. Sending old or no longer used hearing aids may seem to be such a small thing, but those hearing aids are valuable to the program. All hearing aids regardless of make, model, age or condition can be donated to the foundation. All funds generated through that transaction help to underwrite the cost of the new aids provided in the foundation’s efforts “so the world may hear.”
Between 2007 and 2009, about 111,478 hearing aids were donated to the program. Collection sites, through their efforts, were responsible for 75 percent of those donations.
Revenue generated from recycling is used to fund hearing instruments for those in need. Your hearing aid donation is tax deductible. Do not worry if the hearing aids are not in good condition. Hear Now can recycle even old, broken hearing aids. Drop off, or mail your old hearing aids to Coastal Ear, Nose and Throat 3700 Route 33 Suite 101 Neptune, NJ 07753. Please be certain to provide your name and address so that a letter of acknowledgement may be mailed to you.
