When 143 golfers hit the links last month at the Manasquan River Golf Club, they raised an estimated $80,000 for the Holiday Express scholarship program.

The scholarship program provides financial assistance to students who would not otherwise be able to further their education.

Since the scholarship program began in 2000, more than $500,000 has been distributed to 40 students in the communities that Holiday Express serves.

Holiday Express, established by Tim McLoone in 1993, is a nonprofit organization that delivers music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year.

Holiday Express is comprised of more than 1,500 volunteers, including 100 professional rock, jazz, folk, gospel and pop musicians.
