Local Jewish Poets Sought For Poetry Evening at B’nai Israel

Published on March 16, 2012 with No Comments

April, National Poetry Month, is just around the corner and the library committee at Congregation B’nai Israel will be hosting Café Pinsky- “Poets in our Midst” -an evening of readings by local Jewish poets. Named for Long Branch native, Robert Pinsky, who served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 1997-2000, the event will take place on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 7 p.m.  In addition to the poetry, the evening will feature music by singer Lisa Frost-Goodall, light refreshments, coffee and tea. Published and unpublished local Jewish poets are invited to submit up to two poems each to the Library Committee by April 1st. There is no entry fee.  If the committee selects a poem for inclusion in the program, the poet will be invited to read his or her poem that evening.  Poems should be submitted to librarian@cbirumson.org or Library, CBI, 171 Ridge Road, Rumson, NJ 07760.

Congregation B’nai Israel is located at the corners of Hance and Ridge Roads in Rumson, New Jersey.  Serving the Jewish community for almost 90 years, the synagogue serves as a spiritual home for some 400 families as well as providing religious education for preschoolers to adults and hosting social and civic functions for the Jewish community. For more information about this event or Congregation B’nai Israel, contact Helene Messer, Administrator, at helene.messer@cbirumson.org.
