Maggie Jeary and Eric Patry are to be married on Sept. 29, 2012, by the Rev. Robert J. W. Schecker, pastor, at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven. A tented dinner reception on the grounds of Rumson Country Club will follow the ceremony.

Maggie Jeary, 32, is an account director at the Boston advertising firm, McK Healthcare, specializing in pharmaceutical marketing. She graduated from Boston College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater and French in 2002. Maggie continued her education for two more years at the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City before moving her career to advertising and marketing.

Maggie is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Jeary of Rumson. Her father is president of Laughlin Constable, an independent advertising agency with offices in Milwaukee, Chicago and New York City. Maggie’s mother, who is retired, was an admissions director at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City.

Eric Patry, also 32, is a legal technology specialist at the Boston law firm of Nixon Peabody. He graduated from Boston College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 2002.

He is the son of Marc and Linda Patry of Lewiston, Me. Eric’s mother, is the director, patient access at Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, Va. His father is the owner of the Riverview Cafe in Lewiston, Me.

Even though Maggie and Eric were members of the Boston College Class of 2002, they did not meet until six years later at a classmate’s wedding. Eric asked Maggie to dance as she was chatting up one of his college roommates. When the evening ended, they swapped numbers and promised to exchange late-night text messages, never really expecting it to occur.

But after a year of messaging and Gchats, with Eric in Boston and Maggie in New York City, Eric convinced Maggie to move to Boston.

Last fall while in Big Sur, Calif., before sunset, Eric suggested a hike. After a 45-minute climb and a wrong turn, Eric got down on one knee and asked Maggie to marry him. After a moment of shocked silence, she said yes.
