Red Bank Seeking Funds for Basie Jazz Series

July 27, 2012

RED BANK—The borough’s Vision Committee, chaired by Councilwoman Juanita Lewis, has announced that, in honor of Red Bank-born William “Count” Basie, the group is planning a jazz series for the month of August.

The group will be offering three free open-air jazz concerts on Friday, Aug. 10, 17 and 24 at various locations throughout Red Bank to celebrate the birthday month of “the Kid From Red Bank” and to pay homage to jazz music in the community that produced this musical legend, 365 days each year.

The group is currently seeking sponsors to help fund this celebration of Count Basie’s contribution to music history not only in Red Bank, but all over the music world. Anyone interested in helping out should contact Lewis at 732-842-8673.
