RED BANK – In another sign that Red Bank’s economic rise is back, one of its pre-eminent family jewelers, Leonardo Jewelers, just completed an expansion and renovation of its store on 35 E. Front Street.
The project’s centerpiece is a gorgeous new Rolex corner. The project gives Red Bank the distinction of being the only town in Monmouth and Ocean counties with an authorized Rolex watch dealer. The project solidifies Red Bank’s reputation as a major shopping destination and it also involves an expanded retail space and a complete facelift of the store.
To unveil the expanded store and its new Rolex corner, Leonardo Jewelers will hold a party on Friday, March 15 at the store. Officials from Rolex will be present and the Rolex collection will be front and center. They also will showcase some of Rolex’s products new to the U.S.
“Everyone is invited to join us between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.on March 15,” said Leo Zeik, one of the owners of the store.
“The Leonardo Jewelers expansion, coupled with Rumson China and Glass and other retailers relocating to Red Bank, is great news for our town,” Mayor Pasquale Menna said. “After some challenging years, it really is nice to see some positive energy.”
Leonardo Jewelers began as a small store in Elizabeth during the early 1960s. Leonard Zeik, a Cuban immigrant who arrived in the U.S. shortly after Castro’s rise to power, founded the business. His small business began gaining broader attention when he became an authorized Rolex dealer in the early 1970s. Around that time, he began importing sensational jewelry directly from Italy, and he became the first American retailer to offer some of the most renowned Italian jewelry designer brands.
“These steps really put the store on the map,” said Lourdes Zeik Chivi, another owner of the store. “Suddenly, we had the most fabulous collection of jewelry that anyone could imagine.”
Today, Leonardo Jewelers continues to focus on spectacular jewelry and watches. The family continues to be owned and operated by Zeik’s five children. The exceptional warmth and inviting atmosphere of their store, their extraordinary level of customer service and their sensational collections show the family involvement.
This hasn’t gone unnoticed by others either: Leonardo Jewelers was a runner-up this year as New Jersey Family Business of the Year and just recently, Monmouth Health & Life’s winner in their reader’s choice awards as best of Monmouth County’s jewelers. All are invited to the event on March 15 and can RSVP at www.leonardojewelers.com.
