RUMSON – Even without great weather, the Rumson-Fair Haven Run brought out hundreds of runners and spectators on Friday night.
The 5K, which was rescheduled to Friday from June 7 due to inclement weather, featured 280 runners, that all finished in less than 46 minutes.
Jason Gers, 39, of Monmouth Beach finished in first place with a 16:54 time. Max Sparshatt, 22, of Rumson, finished in second at 17:01 and Patrick Hill, 21, of Middletown rounded out the top three with a 17:14 finish.
True Fays, 38, of Middletown was the first female to finish at 19:44. She finished in 10 overall. Jessica Cini, 43, of Fair Haven was the second female finisher with a time of 19:45 and Dawn Wilcox, 40, of Little Silver was the third female finisher at 20:26.
The race, which began at 7:15 p.m., avoided the late-evening thunderstorms that were threatening throughout the day although runners had to deal with severe humidity throughout the run.
