Red and White Affaire

The Monmouth County Alumnae Chapter (MCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is celebrating its 21st Annual Red and White Affaire’ on Saturday, Feb. 18 with a dinner dance at the Jumping Brook Country Club, Neptune.

The proceeds from this event, chaired by Tennissia Gaines of Asbury Park, will assist high school seniors, both women and men, from Monmouth and Ocean County achieve higher educational goals through scholarships awarded by MCAC. Since its inception the Red and White Affaire has raised more than  $180,000 for scholarships..

Live music for dancing will be provided by the Dimension Band featuring Valarie Adams. Donations are $75. Call (732) 996-0880 to reserve.

Winterfest 2012

On Sunday, February 26, the American Culinary Federation, Jersey Shore Chefs Association will present Winterfest 2012 at the Crystal Point Yacht Club in Point Pleasant. Professional chefs and culinary students will jointly present a fabulous Epicurean event beginning at 3:30 p.m. with cocktails and an hors d’oeuvres competition. Following the competition will be a seven-course gourmet meal complete with wine stations.

Forty-five culinary students from four area high schools will present an array of creative hors d’oeuvres as they vie for first place status in a spirited competition. Red Bank Regional joins Ocean County Vo-Tech, Freehold Borough High School and Perth Amboy Vo-Tech.

Chef Peter Roskowinski’s culinary arts students at Red Bank Regional High School have created four hors d’oeuvres for the competition including a Fried Mac & Cheese Popsicle and a Poached Pear and Gorgonzola Tartlet. This is Red Bank Regional’s first year as a Winterfest participant.

Tickets are $80 per person; four tickets for $300; and eight tickets for $560. Last year’s event raised over $8,000, which was distributed in part to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties in Neptune and the Victor Houston Scholarship Fund. For tickets call Ray, (732) 918-2600 ext. 229.

Spring Gala

180 Turning Lives Around will hold its annual Spring Gala on Saturday, March 10 at the Navesink Country Club, Middletown.

180 is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence in our community.

Wine and Martini Tasting

Salt Creek Grille, Rumson will host a Wine and Martini Tasting to benefit the Count Basie Theatre Performing Arts Academy on Thursday, March 29.

The event will feature six wine vendors pouring premiere wines, specialty martinis, passed hors d’oeuvres, pasta and carving stations by Salt Creek Grille, plus guest tables including cheeses from Sickles Market and a raw bar by Lusty Lobster. Radio personality NJ 101.5 Big Joe Henry will be the auctioneer and the Bobby Boyd Trio will provide live music.

The annual event has raised approximately $545,000 since it was started in 2003 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Salt Creek Grille’s opening. Proceeds raised at the event go directly to a selected charity each year that serves local children. In addition, Salt Creek Grille a flag with the charity’s logo all year round to further public awareness. Tickets are $125. Call (732) 224-8778 ext. 118 to purchase.

Anniversary Ball

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Branch and New Brunswick will host a 25th Anniversary Ball, “A Sterling Affair,” on Saturday, April 28 at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan.

Teri and Ross Zimmerman are chairs of the black tie event that will honor the past chairs of the organizations’ board of trustees: Arleen Mageary, Mary Ann Martin, Joan Wills, Angelo Massaro, Jr., Alexis Tucci, Esq., Nancy Mazza, Christopher  Labrecque and Frank Fischer.

Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for families whose children are being treated at area hospitals.
