Say Cheese at Sickles

September 27, 2013

LITTLE SILVER – Sickles Market will have something for every cheese lover in October as it participates in the national American Cheese Celebration.

The market will be offering daily specials on some of its most popular artisan and handmade cheeses, tastings and serving suggestions during October, including selections from California, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Wisconsin cheesemakers.

Those visiting Sickles also will be able to meet the market’s new, in-house mozzarella cheesemaker, Junior Mazzarella.

The designation of October as American Cheese Month was created by the American Cheese Society – a not-for-profit, membership-driven organization – to recognize and raise awareness of the quality and diversity of American cheeses; to support and promote great cheese, local foods, family farms, traditional methods; and sustainable production models.

During the cheese society’s celebration of American-made cheeses, Sickles Market will feature weekly selections of artisanal, regional, and farmhouse favorites made from a particular milk-type, all from North America. There will be tastings and preparation demonstrations throughout the month of October. There will also be various specials on different varieties of cheeses.

Visit the new online market at for Sickles Market’s Cheese of the Month Club, a monthly selection of cheeses mailed to your home or as a gift.

Sickles is located on Harrison Avenue and is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Sunday.
