Shrewsbury Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

The Shrewsbury Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and the Shrewsbury Borough School faculty and administration recently held “Red Ribbon Week,” a week-long effort that offered that focus on health, well being, and reinforcement skills to resist the use of alcohol, tobacco, and all illegal drugs. Throughout the week students were empowered to believe in themselves, resist peer pressure, and to stand up to bullying by “speaking up, reaching out, and being a friend.” Some of the activities included a Public Service Announcement contest, special theme dress-up days, and visits from the Shrewsbury Police Department DARE officers who visited Pre-K – 3rd grade classrooms to read a story and talk about being safe and bully free.
