HOLMDEL – St. John Vianney and Middletown South will play in the Shore Conference Tournament softball semifinal this afternoon.
The game, which was originally set for Saturday, June 1, got moved back to Monday, June 3 because of scheduling conflictions. The game was then postponed to Wednesday because of inclement weather on Monday.
Now, the top-seeded Lancers, who beat eighth-seeded Raritan on Saturday in the quarterfinal, will look to beat the Eagles for a second time this season. St. John Vianney ousted Middletown South in the quarterfinal round of the Monmouth County Tournament, 3-0, on May 2.
Middletown South, seeded fourth in the tournament, beat 13-seeded Central in the Round of 16 and 12-seeded Red Bank Catholic in the quarterfinal round. It has not played since May 30.
The winner of today’s game will face Toms River East in the final. The Raiders beat 15-seeded Mater Dei in the other semifinal.
