RED BANK – 180 Turning Lives Around, Inc., in partnership with Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen, is unveiling an art exhibit 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Soul Kitchen, 207 Monmouth St.

Created to commemorate the first anniversary of Super Storm Sandy and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, “The Ride” is an exhibition about life’s ups and downs. The theme of a roller coaster depicts both the story of the community over the past year and an iconic image of the Jersey Shore.

Photographs of Sandy’s devastation and the New Jersey residents affected surround “The Ride” sculpture. The images of neighbors helping neighbors after the storm mirrors the efforts that 180’s trained trauma counselors provide when reaching out to help victims of domestic violence every day. After Sandy, they were able to share that expertise with storm survivors, as well.

The exhibit was created by domestic violence survivors, survivors of Super Storm Sandy, members of the community and counselors at 180.

Admission is free and light fare will be available. For more information, visit www.180nj.org/THERide2013DVAExhibit.htm.
