NEPTUNE – The Monmouth County Office on Aging will sponsor a workshop titled Understanding Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Part D from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 22, at the Monmouth County Connection, 3544 State Highway 66.

Speakers will include representatives from New Jersey State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and Senior Medicare Patrol.

The presentation will weigh the benefits and drawbacks of Medicare Advantage plans and discuss why so many people are switching over to them. Participants also will hear a description of Medicare Part D, the different phases of coverage and how the Affordable Care Act affects the coverage gap (doughnut hole) in Part D benefits.

The workshop is free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required and may be completed by calling 732-303-2828.
