Zach Stroz, a junior at Christian Brothers Academy, has been selected for the 2012 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.  He will be a part of the Honors Band as a trumpeter. Participation in the Honors Band is limited to the highest rated high school performers from across North America and select international schools.

Zach, a resident of Middletown, auditioned this fall for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by the selection board committee. He will join other performers from the United States and Canada for a special performance this Sunday, Feb., 12 at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement.

Zach studies music with several instructors and mentors, including Bruce Williams, Joe Muccioli, Peter Laurance, Bruce Gallipani, Tom Bender and Karen Gold. He plays with the CBA High School Jazz Band in Lincroft, which took first place in the jazz band ensemble category at the prestigious Heritage Music Festival, a national competition held last April in Philadelphia.

He is also a member of the Jazz Arts Academy and Rockit Live! programs, both out of the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, and plays with the Asbury Park Orchestra in the summer months and does various performances to benefit non-profit organizations throughout the year.  In addition, he leads his own jazz quartet, the CranGrapes, which plays local venues.
